In a magnificent position overlooking the sparkling blue sea and the little port of Amalfi, Azzurra is a charming newly renovated apartment in the best of locations! Amalfi, the first of the four Maritime Republics of medieval Italy, is set at the southern end of the famous Amalfi Drive. Its origins are Roman and following the fall of the Roman Empire was the first city to re-establish trade between East and West, introducing such merchandise as oriental carpets, coffee and paper. The magnificent Duomo (cathedral) built in the 6th century is testimony to the past might and importance of the city, with its splendid mosaic dome and façade in Oriental style, fabulous bronze doors and the Cloister of Paradise.

The house is ideal for those who do not wish to use a car during their stay and can take advantage of its location to explore the surroundings on foot or by bus and boat. The size and the shape of the rooms vary widely, but each is comfortable, clean and with tiled floors. Furnishings are simple and perfect for a seaside vacation, with white-washed walls contrasting with the blue sea and sky outside.

Entrance into a small corridor, leading to a good kitchen with a dining area, and an adjoining open plan sitting room with sliding doors opening onto a balcony, with views over the sea. Another two French doors open to a balcony on the other side with views to the magnificent Duomo. One double bedroom with air-conditioning and French doors giving onto the same balcony also with views over part of the town and the sea. A set of 10 small steps leads to a mezzanine floor with a twin room (the beds cannot be joined) with a window opening onto the ancient alley that leads to the house with the cathedral and the Ziro tower in the background. One large tiled bathroom with shower completes the accommodation of this lovely house.

Access is from the cosy piazzetta dei Dogi, full of restaurants, greengrocers and shops; please note that there are 104 steps up through an ancient stairway to reach the apartment. In the building there is also an internal staircase of 14 steps to the entrance door.

Facilities include TV, air conditioning (in the double bedroom only), small fridge, cooker (3 gas rings). Additional maid service available on request, car parking to be booked on confirmation of booking at Euro 18,00 per day
