This is the very first property in the portfolio of Italian Itineraries, first visited long ago in 1995! Casa Allison is a small medieval hamlet comprised of two medieval towers and two farmhouses, the main farmhouse occupied year round by the owner, an artist. The apartments are decorated with paintings by the artist and there are also original works by a collection of artists from around the world.
The houses are stone built, with beamed ceilings and tiled floors, carefully restored and furnished with traditional Italian furniture and Asian antiques
The property of 11 acres is located close to Citta’ di Castello, in Fabbrecce, a tiny village watched over by the Madonna di Conoscio. This gentle hill, covered with oak woods and vineyards and carefully tended by a few farmers who live and work there, is an ideal place to relax, paint or take restful, leisurely walks. All around is the enchanting Umbrian landscape of medieval villages, woodlands, and vineyards.
In this green region of saints extraordinaire, sunflowers, Giotto and Sagrantino wine, this is an ideal location for relaxing, eating, leisurely walks and visiting Italy, and Umbria in particular. The houses are rented by the week or for the weekend.
The houses are built of stone, with thick white-washed walls, beamed ceilings and terra cotta tiled floors. It has been carefully restored and converted into three charming apartments with use of some splendid Oriental furnishings and objects which fit very well with some local Umbrian furniture. Each apartment has private entry and private outdoor area. It is within walking distance of the village of Trestina. All are completely equipped with central heating and hot water. There is a full complement of crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking utensils in every kitchen. Towels and bed linens are also provided.
Tobacco Drying Tower: Sleeps 2/3 People
This two-storey farmhouse can sleep 2-3 people. On the ground floor is a huge dining room and fully equipped kitchen, furnished with Italian and Asian furniture. There is also a living room on this floor with comfortable sofas.
Upstairs is a small bedroom with a single bed and a huge bedroom with a queen size bed. All rooms have windows and views. The large bathroom has tub and shower.
Outside is a private patio area with chairs and tables.
Medieval Watch Tower: Sleeps 2 People
The tower sleeps 2 people. It has three rooms and an outside covered patio for relaxing and dining "al fresco". On the ground floor, leading in from the patio, is the kitchen, fully equipped. There is also a bathroom on this floor with a shower.
The living room leads off from the kitchen and is comfortably furnished with antique furniture and the owner's paintings. From the living room, a staircase leads up to a large bedroom with a queen size bed. All rooms have windows with views.
Upper Farmhouse: Sleeps 5 People
Access to the house is by an external staircase with a porch at the top. It opens into large living/dining room and adjoining fully equipped kitchen area with beautiful old fireplace and a hand-painted fresco. On the same floor are two bedrooms, one with queen size bed and one with a single bed, a bathroom with tup and shower. Upstairs is large attic bedroom with queen size bed (can be twins) and huge ensuite bathroom with tub and shower. There are lovely views from all windows.
Outside, at the garden level, is a huge terrace overlooking the Upper Tiber Valley, wonderful for dining 'al fresco'
There is a vast selection of shops and services for daily needs in Fabbrecce and Trestina, 5 minutes from Caiporri, with everything from banks, post offices, newsagents, internet point, pharmacies, greengrocers, supermarkets and wine merchants. Trestina (shopping) 2 km, Città di Castello 10 km, Arezzo (train for Florence) 55 km Assisi 40 km.
EXTRA SERVICES AVAILABLE:
No washing facilities, but laundry can be given to the maid who will do a load at a small cost.
Heating in the house, when necessary, is charged by the meter and the cost; calculated based on consumption and, is payable at the time of departure.
Bed linens and towels are supplied for the week. For those staying more than one week, there is a total change of bed linens and towels and also a weekly house cleaning.
Rentals include hot water, cooking gas and a completely equipped kitchen with a full complement of crockery, cutlery, glassware and cooking utensils.
