DETAILS:
This estate and its owners are high up on my list of best places to stay. All our clients love this house. You wind your way up a narrow, paved country road, quite close to the now famous Bramasole of Under the Tuscan Sun fame, through the terraced olive groves until the large gates opening to Casona Smeraldo and its newly restored sister house Casina Giada come into view.

La Casona is an imposing ivy-covered stone house with entrance from the paved panoramic terrace into a large living/dining room with big Tuscan fireplace, cable TV, stereo and telephone. Large glass doors open onto the furnished patio. On the ground floor is a study/bedroom with sofa bed for two and private bathroom. When six people are in residence, the sofabed is made up permanently as a bed with a proper and comfortable mattress!

There is an excellent and very well equipped galley-style kitchen with American style coffee-maker. An easy staircase opens from the entry hall and leads to the upper floor with two large double and air-conditioned bedrooms (one with queen size bed, one with two single beds, two bathrooms with shower, one of which is an ensuite to the twin bedroom. Centrally heated. Garage and fully equipped laundry room in adjacent building.

The large swimming pool with lounging chairs and umbrellas is behind the main villa in a beautiful setting of ancient evergreens, oaks, pines, cypresses and linden trees. It is reached by a private pathway. The owners do not use the pool when guests are in residence in La Casona.
