Le Pianelle - Italy Vacation Rentals - Holiday Accommodation

Commencing in 2009, it is possible to organize courses in photography for the guests of Le Pianelle which are run by a photographer who creates calendars and works quite often in the Sibillini National Park. Please enquire if of interest.

DETAILS:

Le Pianelle has been in the Pasqualetti Ricci family since the 1700s. It is 700 metres above sea level, near the village of Taccarelli, in the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains, in an area well connected to the principal roads of the region, a few kilometres from two beautiful medieval towns, Amandola and Sarnano.

The restoration of the buildings into holiday accommodation has been carried out with passion, respecting the fabric of the original buildings and their history. They offer the holidaymaker the unique experience of staying in accommodation redolent with history but with full modern facilities. The apartments are all named after local trees and plants.

The estate has grounds of more than 150 hectares with fascinating natural panoramas. The ancient woods have paths dating back centuries that wind through them, giving many opportunities to enjoy the natural history of the area. There are many old hunting shelters along these paths, which have been restored maintaining their original fireplaces, offering guests the opportunity to sit under pergolas, or picnic at the tables provided, surrounded by magnificent trees. Many animals can be seen in the woods, such as deer, wild boar, squirrels, martens and foxes.

The backdrop to the National Park is the astounding panorama of the Sibillini Mountains (Mount Azzurri is 2400metres high) home of the mysterious Sibilla Appenninica, the legend who gave her name to these peaks. The National Park, abounding with fabulous views, is populated by the wolf of the Appenines and the royal eagle, who reign over the high snow covered peaks, a world of myths and legends.

I CASALI
The apartments form part of an original sixteenth century hamlet, constructed with local materials; sandstone, brickwork, exposed wooden beam ceilings with terracotta tiles.
They have been restored with immaculate attention to detail to offer an authentic atmosphere, with all the modern facilities necessary to make your stay comfortable. There are two big swimming pools available for the guests, within easy reach of each apartment.

Il Ginepro (70 m2) – sleeps 3
This apartment is particularly suited for a family with a child. It has a private garden and a pergola. The apartment is on two floors. The living room on the ground floor is open plan with a dining area which leads into the kitchen. The floor above has a double room with a double bed and a single bed and a bathroom with shower.
The common facilities shared with La Quercia and Il Castagno include: laundry (washing machine with iron and ironing board), barbeque, 11 by 5 metre swimming pool (1,2m to 1,9metres deep) with roman stairs, umbrellas, sun loungers; game room for the guests with tv, video, ping pong table, board games and children's games.

Il Castagno (120 m2) – sleeps 5
This large apartment is on two levels, with a private garden and covered terrace. The ground floor is open plan with a dining and kitchen area up two steps from the generously sized sitting room. On the floor above there are two bedrooms (one double and one with two single beds) with a single bed on the landing. On this level there is a bathroom with a shower.

La Quercia (110 m2) – sleeps 6
This is the biggest of the apartments and comfortably accommodates six people. The structure is the same as the other apartments but the accommodation is spread out over three floors. The ground floor is divided into the living room, separated from the dining room by the cooking area, which is a couple of steps higher from the living room. On the first floor there is a double room, a large landing with a single bed and a bathroom with shower. On the second floor there is a large attic room with three beds. Outside the private garden has a terrace with pergola.

Il Ciliego (110 m2) – sleeps 4+1
Identical in architectural character, this apartment has a generously sized open plan living eating and kitchen, with a bathroom without shower, on the ground floor. On the first floor there is a second bathroom with a shower, a bedroom with a single bed and two bedrooms (one with double bed, the other with two single beds), both with stunning views.
The common facilities shared with Il Pero, Il Noce, Il Melo and Le Terrazze include: laundry (washing machine with iron and ironing board), barbeque, 11 by 5 metre swimming pool (1.2m to 1.9 metres deep) with roman stairs, umbrellas, sun loungers; game room for the guests with tv, video, ping pong table, board games and children's games.

Il Noce (120 m2) – sleeps 4

This spacious apartment accommodates four people. The well-lit ground floor has a generously sized living area with a dining area at one end and a well equipped open plan kitchen. The private garden area is accessed through French windows. On this floor there is also a bathroom with shower. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with splendid view of the Sibillinis and its original fireplace, and another double bedroom with views of the swimming pool. On the same floor there is a second bathroom with shower.

Il Melo (50 m2) – sleeps 2+2
This studio apartment is the twin of Il Pero, on the third floor of the building that houses Il Noce and Il Pero. It is particularly suitable for a young couple. The living room's fabulous views of the Sibillinis, combined with the traditional beam and tile ceiling, give it a special atmosphere. One large room stretching the length of the building has a double bed at one end, with a living area with a sofa bed in the middle and a cooking area on the opposite side. The bathroom has a shower.

Le Terrazze (100 m2) – sleeps 4
This house is the most recently restored of all the apartments at La Tenuta. It offers spacious accommodation for four people, and is restored with the same attention to detail as the other apartments. The main features of this property are its two large terraces, one with views over the garden and swimming pool, the other with a private conservatory and splendid views of the Sibillini Mountains. On the first floor there is a large living room with a fireplace. The kitchen and the dining room have direct access to the terrace overlooking the swimming pool, with stairs down to the garden and the pool. The bedroom on the first floor has a double bed, and the second bedroom is on the floor above with twin beds. The bathroom has a bath with hydromassage.

The houses are completely supplied with kitchen equipment, linen, towels (with weekly changes) and everything necessary for your stay. The environment is particularly suited to children, and baby sitting is available on request for an extra charge. The swimming pools are fully supplied with umbrellas, sun loungers and cushions. There are two laundries shared by the apartments, with a washing machine and ironing facilities. Guests can order dinner to be served on the premises for an extra charge. A complete list of the facilities and advice for holidaymakers can be found in the guide to guests in each house.

Guests who enjoy eating will find that the local Marche cooking, with it's strong flavours and varied diet, offers many specialities to be sampled and enjoyed. The area abounds in cultural gems, with cities and towns whose medieval roots are still clearly visible, with artistic and cultural vestiges of the centuries preserved for modern visitors. Don't forget that in the winter there are many traditional folklore celebrations whose origins stretch back centuries, and offer both a taste of history whilst being a part of the modern local traditions.

Le Pianelle is in the heart of Le Marche. Due to its position at the meeting point of the three provinces, Ascoli, Macerata and Fermo, it is within easy reach of many centres of artistic and culture interest.

Ascoli Piceno is approximately an hour away (little more than 40km). It is a one of Italy's most interesting cities both artistically and architecturally. The historical center is constructed in travertine, and the city abounds in buildings and churches of the medieval and renaissance periods

Macerata (50km away) dates back to medieval times and has maintained many of its ancient buildings. The most famous of these is the Sferisterio, a nineteenth century construction originally intended for as a sports arena, now an open air amphitheatre with a concert programme of international level.

Fermo (45km), capital of the recently established province of Fermo, has a well preserved medieval historical centre, alongside a modern city.

Other historical centres of interest are Tolentino (40km), birth place of Saint Nicholas and home of the Museum of Cartoons and Caricature. Recanati (70 km) is famous as the home and inspiration of the poet Giacomo Leopardi, where one can still visit the house where he was born. Camerino (45 km) is a small univeristy town rich in artistic treasures.

In the summer guests can enjoy the “green Riviera of the Picena”, the beautifully appointed beaches that line the Adriatic. The nearest are Porto San Giorgio and Pedaso, approximately 50km away, accessed by the state roads 210 and 433. Porto San Giorgio has the added advantage of being a Blue Ribbon beach, which recognises not only the healthy condition of the sea but also acknowledges the attention to the local environment and the development of sustainable tourist facilities. Less than 80km away is the town of San Benedetto del Tronto, the most important of the towns along the Marche Riviera, with its fabulous “Riviera of Palms”.
