Villa La Stellina

Villa La Stellina is the perfect base for your holiday in the Italian Lakes District. Although accessed from the busy coastal road of Lake Maggiore this charming accommodation provides a peaceful and relaxing holiday right on the shore of the lake.

The villa occupies two floors:
The ground floor offers a large living room with comfortable period furnishings, fireplace, satellite TV and direct access to the patio; a spacious fully equipped eat-in-kitchen (electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine) a large patio with ping pong table and BBQ.

Upstairs:
the master bedroom with lake view, a twin bedded room with ensuite bathroom (shower), (the master bedroom and the twin bedded room have mosquito screens on the windows), a third bedroom with double and very comfortable sofabed plus an extra folding bed (available on request), large bathroom with tub and shower.

Outside is a fenced garden, patio for “al fresco” dining with barbecue. Direct access to the lake.

The area
Lago Maggiore is a magical glacial lake anchoring the mountains which step up into the Italian Alps. This is the heart of the ‘Lakes District’ of Italy, an area with a noted northern influence with plenty of small villages to explore and more than enough stunning scenery to fill a vacation.

There is excellent hiking in the Val Grande, and equally excellent golfing with 2 golf courses in the nearby ( 10 minutes driving ) and more than 7 within 40 minutes driving. In season mushrooms and chestnuts can be found in the woods near Gignese.

Tours in the area include Stresa, the Borromeo Islands, Brissago Islands, Arona, Villa Taranto (botanical gardens), and the Cannero Riviera. A 10-minute drive brings you to the ferry launches at Arona. While the romantic Lake Orta with Isola S.Giulio is only at a 15 min drive.

In Stresa (a 10 minutes drive) in its wonderful setting the Grand Hotel des Iles Borrom�es offers Beauty, Fitness and Antistress programs featuring all the most modern equipments. Many fabulous restaurants are located in the area as well as caf�s and shops.

Tennis court and olimpic size swimming pool are at a 5 min drive.

Water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, waterski-ing are available in Stresa, Belgirate and Lesa.

Milan’s Malpensa airport is 27 miles away.

The region around Lake Maggiore is rich in religious monuments of every style and age. The numerous buildings dating to the Romanesque period testify the importance of this area during the Middle Age. The most important churches in the area preserve antique frescoes and paintings. The statue of San Carlo Borromeo (uphill Arona), known by its local nickname Sancarlone because of its 23.4 meters of height, is the second highest in the world after the Statue of Liberty in New York. The Sacred Mount of Ghiffa with its splendid religious edifices immersed in a panoramic position overlooking the Lombard shore of the lake offers the opportunity to enjoy a tranquil nature hiking.
